Go On....Let It Allllll Out....

JESUS WEPT...JOHN 11:35

Sometimes you just want to cry your eyes out...you just get so much angst in you that you don’t know what to do except.... cry...you miss a deadline...or you have a deadline and then realize the computer keeps jamming or whatever you’re trying to do is just not working...your eyes start welling up...the light watery mist becomes a glaze which cascade over your eyes...which becomes the very flood that Noah sailed on...which becomes a torrent of rain! HELP!!!

In those times....let the dam loose and take a good cry...just boo hoo it all out...we were never meant to hold it in....and after you let it all out...go to your Father....because he loves you and wants to comfort you...I promise:)

Things to Think About:

Do you ever just go to the Lord and tell him you need his help?

He is waiting.....

May I Pray? Lord thank you for always being there! Thank you that you will never leave us nor forsake us! We put everything in your awesome hands....In Jesus name, Amen!

Who Are You...Anyway?

                                                                                                                             Share |

Eiffel Tower
Ephesians 2:8
I was walking in the airport today and noticed a lady with a cool pink t-shirt on. It read, I  AM WHAT I AM...Cool shirt I thought. Never saw that one before ...The question for all of us today is....who are we? We are who we are...But...Who are you...really? Are you a businesswoman, a doctor, a lawyer, a missionary, a teacher, a waiter, a student, a nurse, a beautician, are you corporate, a businessman, a pilot, a dancer, a musician....an artist...a humanitarian...a mom....a webmaster....a cook...a secretary....a landscaper...a mailman...well...who are you? Maybe jobless....and quite frankly...that’s ok.

In Psalm 139, David writes a beautiful description of who God is...where David was...and where God was...when he and we were created. He says that God  saw him before he was ever born...created him and knitted him together in his mother’s womb. That he cannot hide from God...and get this....can count how many hairs are on our head...now that’s detail people. It goes on to say that God is there in the darkest of night and that God’s hand will hold him fast.

In today’s culture we are all defined by what we do and what we have accomplished or not accomplished. By how much money we have or what cars we drive or how much service work we have done... We define ourselves by our degrees and job titles and status of being fabulous or not so fabulous... but this is not who God says we are. We are first and foremost HIS....HIS CHILD....WONDERFULLY MADE...HIS MASTERPIECE....Take a deep breath in...close your eyes...and remember you are A child of the Utmost High....that is enough...So the next time you start thinking about what you have to be or do or attain to feel okay with yourself....stop yourself...breath...and remember...You are enough....You are who your creator made you to be:) A masterpiece!

Things to Think About:

Psalm 139

I created you in your inner most being....

Do you believe this?

May I pray? Father, thank you for creating me exactly the way you did! Thank you for my life! Thank you that you created me with a purpose. Forgive me for complaining that I am not good enough....Remind me each day that I am your child...and an image of you.  In Jesus name, Amen!

JUST SAY NO!

No!
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!” Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Matthew 16:21-3

My girls and I sat down for dinner. I had stopped at Sliders and Fries...a new joint that opened 7 weeks ago. The grand opening flags were still hanging outside. I was waiting for my middle daughter to finish her tumbling, so I went around the corner to buy some dinner. This new place made all their burgers fresh with toppings like avocados, red peppers, bacon, salsa....we got a great deal.
Over dinner we were talking about being “healthy” and eating “healthy” and being happy with themselves. We all agreed that having balance is very important. That self care, exercising a few times a week, eating less junk food is important in staying healthy. We can know who we are in Christ, but then if we’re thirty pounds over weight, our health and confidence suffer.
I wanted to hear from my girls that they knew that even though they knew that they get their identity from knowing they are God’s children and God specifically has a purpose for them, I also wanted to know that they knew that being balanced in eating, exercise, and spending time nurturing their mind, working hard, and being committed in their goals was also important too.
In service work, it’s easy to give, give, give for many of us. But Jesus knew when He needed to be alone and pray. He knew what his soul needed....time with His father (Mark 1:35). He often said no to the requests of the crowds. He had his boundaries. If Jesus had boundaries, so should we. In today’s world we need boundaries saying no to all the junk food, saying no to unhealthy friendships, saying no to things that pull us away from God. Saying no to uncontrolled anger and things that zap our time. No to extra work hours that drain us and kill a marriage. I think when we can say, “no” to these things, we are actually saying, “Yes” to God! And if we say, “Yes,” to God...we can start making a difference.

Things to Think About:
“One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!”
Luke 23:39
Where do you need better boundaries like Jesus to stick to your guns and say, “no!”
This week....try it:)

May I pray? Jesus, you showed us how to live. You showed us with boundaries that there will be times when we have to say, “no.” Thank goodness you said, “no,” and died for our salvation. Give each one of us courage to set boundaries so that we can accomplish the things you’d have us accomplish. Thank you God for your strength! In Jesus name, Amen.

MR. COLO

Patience concept -

The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these...you did for me."
Matthew 25:40

I met Mr. Colo today...he was in charge of watching the kids after school. He was watching and playing with a handful of kids...like 6. There were four kids on swings, and he was pushing all four of them...with genuine affection. He gently corrected little Jimmy for not being nice to Liz. He told Sally to say sorry to Johnny because that was the right thing to do. I pulled Mr. Colo over and commented on how kind and patient he was with the kids and what a great job he was doing. He said he realized that getting upset and yelling doesn’t do anything because one can’t really think clearly when all upset and angry. Mr. Colo proceeded to tell me that he likes to think things through and recognize that little Jimmy has behavior issues and is only two. By him getting upset, he said he felt selfish because if God is patient with him, he wanted to at least try to be patient with little Jimmy. Mr. Colo told me he is homeschooled and a junior in high school. Wow...Mr. Colo sure is wise.....:)

Things to Think About:
Who are the “least of these” in your life?

May I Pray? Jesus, thank you for Mr. Colo and the love he has for you! Bless him for serving the least of these and impressing your love onto their little hearts! I ask that you give each one of us the love to serve the least of these wherever we are...at work, at home, in the mission field...forgive us for wounding others in our impatience, and make us more like you...slow to anger abounding in love! In Jesus name, Amen.

Time to Make a Change....Ch Ch Changes....

Life is busy...
life is good...
life brings troubles...
as it could...
Don’t be worried...
Don’t be sad...

Forever speaking..
Hold on tight...
Start on over...
Turn your face to the light...
Make the changes...
That your Savior brings...
And turn that sorrow...
Into joyful things....
The seconds are ticking...
Our kids get big...
Look for the answers...
In what thing?
It starts with prayer...
fellowship...
And love...
Pick up the phone
and...

fear that has said it's prayers....

Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty photo: Sleeping Beauty sleepingbeauty_zpsd754f99b.jpg

Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart and Lean Not On Your  Own Understanding...in All Your Ways Acknowledge Him...And He Will Make Your Paths Straight.
Proverbs 3:5

Today my three year old and I went to the gym. She went to her class, and I worked out on the elliptical machine. When I came back to pick up my daughter, she was totally engrossed in the Sleeping Beauty movie. She had never seen Sleeping Beauty, but we have so many princess books laying around. She knows...Sleeping Beauty wears the pink dress. A little five year old boy was telling my little one that Sleeping Beauty was only sleeping. She kept telling him that Aurora AKA Sleeping Beauty was out for the count...dead....The little boy kept saying that Aurora was sleeping. Finally, I explained to her that Aurora looked dead but really wasn’t. She was in a deep sleep, but after the prince kisses her, she would awake. Everything was resolved after that.
This made me think of our Maker, and how He knows things we don’t, and we insist on what we think and what we see....when really all we need to do is trust God and not on what “we think.”

Thought for the Day
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

May I Pray: Lord God, give us more faith to believe the unseen. Give us ears to hear and eyes to see! Thank you for never giving up on us! Help us keep our eyes on you...when the world pulls us in all different directions...let us rest on YOU...In Jesus name, Amen!

The Shortest Entry:))

Judge not, that you be not judged.
Matthew 7:1
What does it mean to be open-minded? The free on-line dictionary says it is being, “receptive to new and different ideas or the opinions of others.” Being open-minded is to me the opposite of being judgemental. The Bible tells us in Matthew 7:3-5, “Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, an then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” Wow....I don’t think I need to say anything else on this entry:)))

Things to Think About:
When was the last time someone said something that made you judge them? Think again...be open-minded...next time you see that person....ask the Lord to help you understand them.

MAY I PRAY? OH LORD! Forgive us for being judgemental! You clearly do not accept this. Change us and help us to realize that you are an image in each person we meet. Help us to understand your creation a little more each day! Thank you for the opportunity to know you and your people! In Jesus name, Amen.

TICK TOCK...ACCEPT THE CLOCK!

PATIENCE is defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as “the capacity or habit of being patient.” The definition of patient is “bearing pains or trials calmly or without complaint. It is the manifesting forbearance under provocation or strain. Not hasty or impetuous.” We teach our kids to be patient. We desire to be patient in bumper to bumper traffic. But, how many of us are really patient with ourselves and with God in what He is unfolding in our lives? I imagine God in the heavenly realms with the keys to time. He has a time for everything. Many times we tap our feet and expect instant solutions and God to come running when we pray for help. But God doesn’t work like that...
In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 it is written, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill; and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing. What’s going on in your life today that you are tapping your feet at? Perhaps four years ago is was time to wait and work and now is the time to enjoy the fruit. The key is spending time with your maker and really listening in to hear what time it is...

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
Are you accepting the Lord’s clock?

May I pray? Father, forgive us for being so impatient with you, ourselves, and others! You know what is going on with us...every detail. Help us to be sensitive to your promptings and to recognize the things you try to tell us. More importantly, help each one of us to accept your time with grace and courage! Thank you for your perfect time. In Jesus name, Amen.

HOT DOG!

I Praise You Because I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.

Psalm 139:14

Do you ever look in the mirror and sigh......at your receding hairline? Or notice it's been a year since you cut your hair?  Or frown....at your peppered grey hair? Or suck in at your bulging belly? C’mon...be honest....we all critique ourselves too harshly. I know I do. When I was in middle school, I remember slouching and bending my one knee extra low because at the Korean church my family attended, I could see the top of everyone’s head. I kid you not! I felt like a GIANT...ABNORMAL...STICKING OUT LIKE A FISH OUT OF WATER...AN ELEPHANT AMONG MONKEYS....OK YOU GET THE PICTURE... I saw the top of Mr. Kim’s head. The top of Mrs. Kim’s head, the top of Mr. Lee and Mrs. Lee’s heads and the entire church for that matter. Ok, maybe there was one high school boy who was 6 feet tall but the rest were midgets...so at least that is what I thought. Today I stand at 5’7”, and I can finally say I am fearfully and wonderfully made. The grass is always greener on the other side. My lovely daughter is 5’4” and wishes she were taller. I tell her my story at church....I baffle her...we are all unhappy with something!

My point....we are all made in God’s image! We truly are fearfully and wonderfully made! Do yourself a favor and take care of yourself because when you do, you are really thanking the Lord for making you in His image. Color your grey (if you want), eat healthy....if you choose....lose those 10 extra pounds that become thirty in your fifties....or read that book that sharpens your mind. You are God’s child...treat yourself with some pampering today. You are the only one who can....

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
You are God’s masterpiece.
Ephesians 2:10
Do you believe it?
Then act like it....:)

MAY I PRAY? Father in heaven, thank you for making me....me! Thank you for putting your very image in each one of us! Forgive us for complaining that we are not good enough. You made us....HOT DOG!!! IN JESUS NAME....AMEN.

It's the Thing to Do...

Forgiveness : cute sheep holding red sign Forgive me, please

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Matthew 6:14-15

God truly loves you and me. He proved it when he sent his only Son, Jesus, to this world to take away all our sins to the cross. He offered His own body as the lamb, the sacrifice, to save us from eternal damnation. His sacrifice was an act of forgiveness for our sins. Although we are all at different places in our spiritual journey, the Holy Spirit reveals to us our sins. Sins we are being exposed to today, we might not have been ready to deal with last year, the year before, or twenty years ago. The holy spirit reveals our sins to us especially when we truly repent and confess to the Lord, and when we get to a place of willingness for the Lord to show us our sins. It truly is a freeing process because as we repent and confess our sins, God brings healing to our hearts and relationships with others. The truth truly does set you free (John 8:32).
Knowing this, that we are all sinners and we are all not perfect, that we are all sinners at the foot of the cross, it is so crucial we wear a “breastplate of forgiveness” everyday. Part of the armor of God is a breastplate of righteousness. This righteousness is one that is full of mercy and full of forgiveness. To have a heart like Christ, we must be willing to forgive our enemies and forgive our friends. This act of forgiveness frees you and me from harboring resentments and developing a bitter root expressed in Hebrews 12:15 which causes trouble and defiles many......If it is too painful to forgive, we must ask the Lord to help us be willing to forgive. Forgiveness is the essence of who God is. The next time someone drives you bonkers, and you are ready to cross them off your friend list.....do the Jesus thing, and forgive. Spending loads of time with them is a different story...trust is earned...but if you start with forgiveness, you stay true to who you are.

Things to Think About:
“And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love MERCY and to walk humbly with your God.”
Micah 6:8

MAY I PRAY? Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins. Thank you for covering me with you blood. In the name of Jesus, give us a forgiving heart, full of mercy, full of forgiveness. Let us automatically go into forgiveness mode....because this is what pleases you. Thank you for your strength and power! In Jesus name, Amen!
